Tümen-Ochiryn Erdene-Ochir (Erdene-Ochir Tumen-Ochir) is a Lecturer of Mongolian in the Department of Mongolian and Tibetan Studies at the University of Bonn, Germany since October 2019. He is also a senior lecturer of Mongolian language and linguistics at the National University of Mongolia (NUM) on temporary leave. Erdene-Ochir obtained his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the National University of Mongolia in 2018 on the basis of his dissertation “A comparative study of the metaphorical expressions in English and Mongolian (as Examples of Proverbial Expressions within the Theoretical Frame of Cultural Linguistics)”.

Erdene-Ochir has been working as a lecturer of Mongolian linguistics and Mongolian as a second language at the National University of Mongolia since 2010. Apart from Mongolia, where he was also involved in organizing Mongolian Government Summer Schools for Young Mongolists, he worked in the US at Western Washington University as well as at the Australian National University.

Research Interest

Mongolian language and culture, classic Mongolian script, teaching Mongolian as a foreign language, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics in linguistics, systematic functional grammar, universal grammar, cultural linguistics (ethnolinguistics), and cognitive linguistics.
