The Mongolia Update is held every two years and is a chance for the government, academics, students and the general public to hear about contemporary issues and trends in Mongolia. Updates feature a range of presentations from Members of Parliament, Ambassadors, industry, NGOs or creative practitioners on Mongolian culture, heritage, politics, economy and the environment.

The Mongolia Institute functions as a hub for research and teaching relating to the Inner-North Asian region and Mongol diaspora. We are comprised of academic researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students, visiting fellows and retired academics based at the ANU. Our research affiliates are currently connected with the Mongolia Institute through collaborative research, as visitors or were part of the Institute in the past.

Seminar Series

CHL Mongolian

The ANU Mongolia Institute hosts an interdisciplinary series of presentations on Mongol-related studies. Held monthly on Fridays, usually at lunchtime from 12-1pm. Sessions include a 45 minute presentation and 15 minutes for discussion and are usually hybrid in format on a topic relating to Inner-North Asia and peoples of Mongol heritage.

Most presentations are fairly informal and can include work-in-progress overviews or discussions of recent Mongolian studies related research.
